In Addis Ababa
Explore in one day the city Addis Ababa. Founded more than a century ago, the flourishing capital of Ethiopia offers countless interesting places, museums, parks and clubs to see, explore and enjoy. With an elevation between 2400m and 3000m is Addis Ababa the third highest capital in the world. The city mixes past and present. Statues from the imperial times coexist with placards from the former Marxist Regime all over the city. We will visit historical sites in Addis Ababa including the National Archaeological Museum, where we will view the 3.6 million year old remains of “Lucy”, whose skeletal remains when discovered in 1974. We will also visit the Ethnological Museum at Addis Ababa University, Holy Trinity Cathedral and time permitting Mount Entoto which rises up to an altitude of 3200 meters and offers the panoramic view of the metropolis. Complimentary farewell dinner party will follow in one of the most renowned Cultural restaurant in Addis to test the cultural food and drinks, enjoying dances from the different ethnic groups with traditional coffee ceremony. For souvenir shopping, taking walks on the main streets of Addis, and discovering bustling outdoor markets we will take you to the old inner city piazza or to “Markato”, the biggest outdoor market of Africa or enjoy exotic dishes, espresso bars and patisseries which are reminiscent of Rome and the Mediterranean. If you are interested we can drop you at one of the city’s best clubs or live music places for enjoying the nightlife and club cultures of Addis.
Culture and History
Gondar lies in the North of the country and not far from the Simien Mountains. This town used to be the capital of Ethiopia and one of the strategically important points for various emperors of the country. For this reason castles and churches have been built in the city which we are going to visit during the day.
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Addis Ababa and being transferred to Bole intl. Airport and fly from there to Gondar. Reached there your private vehicle is waiting for you to start the tour through this interesting ancient city. You will visit the castle of emperor Fasiledas and its rulers. The palace belongs to the royal complex and is a well preserved residence of 6 emperors of Ethiopia and offers different architectural monuments to see inspired by the Portuguese. After visiting the different sites you are going to the Debre Berhan Selassie Church, which features fascinating wall and ceiling artworks. This magnificent day tour is coming to an end and if you are willing we are taking you to one of the finest restaurants in town for dinner before you can go to the best night club for seeing traditional musicians and dancer in town called Atse Bekaffa.
In the Simien Mountains
Early in the morning around 6-6:30 am you will start your journey from Gondar to the small town Debark, where you are going to pick up your guide and scout. From there you go until Buitras, there you start your 3-4 hrs hike to the camp Sankaber. On the way, you will see great views, various flora & faunas as including Gelada baboons & above all the Jimbar waterfall is incredible in such a trip. In the afternoon you return back to Gondar.
